Microsoft is developing a desktop watermark for Windows 11 Desktop

In 2021, the Windows 11 requirements sparked heated discussion, with Microsoft which is known for products like Office 365 claiming the requirements are all in effect for safety purposes. Many people who’d been anticipating Windows 11 were outraged by Microsoft’s move, and several hacks were identified to get past the requirements.

However, if your device doesn’t really satisfy the criteria, you may force-install the Operating system on it. In reality, Microsoft offers an official registry hack that allows you to circumvent the TPM and CPU tests in the Installation Assistant and install Windows 11 on any device that can run Windows 10.

Microsoft, which is known for Microsoft Teams earlier cautioned in the very same documentation that devices that do not satisfy standards will no longer be authorized to get upgrades. Microsoft experts also found that forcing Windows 11 installation is not “advised” because the criteria assure greater reliability and functionality.

If you’ve already downloaded Windows 11 on an unsuitable device, you may notice a new watermark on your desktop. The watermark, which shows just above the taskbar clock, is identical to the “Windows is not active” message, although it has no effect on applications, windows, or browsers.

The desktop watermark merely reads “system requirements not met,” which might upset certain individuals, but it should not come as a shock given Microsoft’s past warnings about potential ‘harm.’

The notification will also be displayed in the Settings application, reminding people that their device is not currently supported.

These warnings are now available in two locations: the desktop and the Settings application. Thus far, these warnings may be ignored entirely, and the watermark is restricted to the desktop or Settings app, so they have no effect on the general user experience.

There is no evidence that the company intends to place the “unsupported device” warning on top of active applications.

Fortunately, the watermark may be removed by following these steps:

  • Launch Registry Editor.
  • Go to the following address:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\UnsupportedHardwareNotificationCache
  • Set the value of SV2 to ‘0’
  • Restart

It’s also important to mention that the new watermark is now being A/B tested in Windows 11 Build 22557, and may come in production builds with the Sun Valley 2 upgrade.

The company has also incorporated a pop-up that shows during the downloading of the Operating system and informs individuals of the disadvantages of running Windows 11 on a computer that does not meet the minimum requirement.

If you proceed with the installation of Windows 11 on an unsuitable PC, the pop-up warns you that there could be compatibility difficulties, ‘potential harm,’ as well as other concerns.

Furthermore, the company has said that it would not ensure frequent or even critical security upgrades for incompatible devices.
