The most recent Microsoft Windows 11 preview release (currently available for Insiders participating in the Insider program’s Dev channel) includes Windows Update enhancements for IT administrators.

This new upgrade, which is intended specifically for the education industry, takes the form of a policy that allows you to disable Windows Update alerts on specified devices.

In other terms, IT administrators may now disable all alerts, particularly restart warnings, so pupils aren’t troubled by the warning appearing on their devices.

The policy is aptly titled “Display options for update notifications”.

Nevertheless, please remember that this new policy is now only accessible to Windows insiders, but it should not be long before it works its way into production builds of Windows 11.

Microsoft, which is famous for products such as Office 365, no long waits for feature upgrades to offer additional features to people, thus this policy might potentially be distributed via a monthly update to PCs.

“For educational IT administrators, we have a new policy designed with you and your pupils in consideration.” With this release, you will be able to disable all Windows Update alerts that may disturb your children throughout the school days. Users will be allowed to provide this richer experience while remaining compliant because the alerts will begin to appear again if user intervention is necessary and the device extends the time limit, whereas most devices should be able to instantly restart overnight whenever the pupil is not present,” the company describes.

Microsoft which is famous for products like Microsoft Teams has particularly requested input on this functionality, therefore IT administrators are urged to submit their ideas on the Feedback Hub to assist in improving this policy before it has been rolled out to operational devices.

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build upgrade adds numerous new features, including a tablet-optimized taskbar, widget content enhancements, and much more.
